My name is Amelia Ambrois, creator of Whispering Heart Yoga.

Growing up in rural Northern California, I found yoga in my teens after a childhood full of dance. My curiosity sparked when I walked past a new yoga studio. The first class felt like an internal dance of challenge and struggle, followed by blissful calm and release. There was this subtle awareness of my inner voice.

The mind-body connection brought me back for my second class, and I knew yoga was for me.

Yoga taught me I'm in control of how I feel in my body, mind, and heart and amplifies this truth in daily life. I realized I wanted to share this with others.

For years I encouraged a loved one to try a yoga class for comfort and mobility. Their discomfort around a public class led them to ask if I would be willing to teach them. I enthusiastically accepted the challenge and released the fear of having no formal training. Somewhere during that first session, we both found the magic. They felt more body connection and body awareness as I realized my deep desire to help others.

In 2015 I took my first 200-hour training with Amy Sullivan in the Roots and Wings Teacher Training in Healdsburg, California. It taught me what it means to be a teacher and the tools to do it well. It also taught me to be myself.

In 2021 I completed Pete Guinosso’s 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training Lighting the Path and assisted his 200-hour yoga teacher training. This experience helped me grow as a teacher, build confidence, and develop my skills and my voice.

I teach slow vinyasa flow and a mellow movement yoga classes. Both are a gentle pace with longer holds allowing you time to connect your body and mind. Yoga is simple in concept, but that does not make it easy. These classes are filled with breathwork and themes to ignite the soul. The movement is dynamic and intentional, accompanied by lots of love and support.
